  • While some famous television shows suggest black cats can talk, many Halloween movies say black cats are bad luck; However, in some asian cultures, black cats are considered good luck!
  • There are over 22 breeds of cats that can have a solid black coat.
  • Black cats are typically more resistant to disease. Why? The mutation that causes a cat’s fur to be black is in the same genetic family as genes known to give humans resistance to diseases like HIV. While their black fur may cause their superstition, they may be getting the last laugh after all!
  • In Japan, there are cat cafes that are dedicated entirely to black cats. Pretty cool, huh?
  • While they are super cute, black cats can be difficult to photograph. Some photographers suggest using minimalistic backgrounds to ensure your black cat subject stands out.
  • In the middle ages, it was a common theory that witches could disguise themselves as black cats.
  • Black cats are just as adoptable as cats of other colors!
