Summertime Hacks
- With rising temps, it's common for pets to eat less in the hotter months. Don't panic if your pet is eating less than their usual pattern - it's totally normal! We recommend high protein meal toppers to introduce a healthy addition to mealtime to encourage them to eat.
- Make sure to keep them cool and provide plenty of fresh water at all times and access to a shaded, cool area.
- Put a wet or damp towel on your pet to cool them off fast.
- Take them for walks in the early mornings or evenings after sunset to protect their paw pads. Remember - if it's too hot on the back of your hand, it's too hot for them.
- Before going outdoors, spray your pets with a natural flea & tick spray. After spending time outdoors, especially on hiking trails or in the woods, check your pet thoroughly for fleas and ticks to remove accordingly.
- Always watch your pets in the water whether at the beach, at the lake, or in the pool. Even the best of swimmers can tire out fast!
- NEVER leave your pets or children in your unattended vehicle! Temperatures rise quickly which can lead to overheating or worse. It's best to leave your pets at home if you need to make an errand.
- Keep your pet food properly stored in a sealed container to ensure freshness (we recommend a pop top container or a lidded trash can) and to protect it from pesky critters. Raccoons, ants, and even toddlers tend to love our Nature's Select kibble!
- If fireworks or car travel stress out your dog, we recommend calming treats to help relax your dog, CBD oil, or health supplements to help reduce anxiety.
